Every day Unbound works side by side with children and families living on the margins of society, inspiring and encouraging them on a path out of poverty and toward self-sufficiency.
But, as connected as we are to our sponsored friends and the daily challenges they face, sometimes even we need a reminder of how just a little bit of help can make a big impact in their lives.
A trip to capture the stories of sponsored families in the Dominican Republic served as that reminder this past spring.
In March, after a 2-year travel hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Unbound’s Kansas City reporting team resumed international travel with a visit to key locations in the Dominican Republic. The week-and-a-half-long content-gathering expedition resulted in more than 3,500 images and videos that beautifully tell the stories of hope and resilience of 11 families and the impact of Unbound sponsorship on their lives.
This trip introduced us to stories like that of Dilcia, who improved her bottled seasoning business with the help of a food processor donated by Unbound, and Alejandra, who boosted her family’s income from her grocery store business with products donated by Unbound. These, and many others, served to remind us that the smallest amount of support can make a huge difference for someone in poverty.
We invite you to join the reporting team for an inside peek at how they traverse the globe in search of both the heartwarming and heart-rending stories of the families who make up the Unbound community through our “See You on the Road” series.
We hope you enjoy “See You on the Road: Dominican Republic.” Subscribe to Unbound on YouTube to join the reporting team on their next stop — Costa Rica.
A Little Goes A Long Way
Unbound reporting team travels to the Dominican Republic to gather the stories of sponsored families
August 23, 2022 | Behind the Scenes
Reporting trips are all about listening to our sponsored families. We want to hear their life stories and the impact of sponsorship in their lives. But more than anything, we want to give them a chance to have a voice and be heard.
